All About Me
Hi!
My name is Tasha. I'm a stay at home mom with 3 adorable kids. My oldest is Serenity. She's 6 years old and quite the little Diva. Max is the second one. He's 5 and quite handsome and dreams of being a doctor some day. Zander is 3 and definitely the wild one of the bunch. His nick name around the house has become "Zandar the barbarian."
I home school all of my children. Now, I know that is not really the norm these days, but I love it. We aren't one of those super religious families that try to keep our children away from everything and we do make sure to take our children to places where they can socialize with other children their age. My daughter takes dance classes and Max is going to sign up for baseball and possibly soccer. I'm not sure yet what Zander will do, but he is a rough and tumble kind of dude, so my guess is something like football or hockey, but we'll see.
My husband, Chris, and I have been married for 10 years. It's been a very long time, but he is my best friend and we are very happy. It's not all easy though and there have been more than a few bumps in the road, but we work through everything and communicate really well. (Btw it took a while to master the communication thing, but we both think it's why we work so well together now.)
We had a crazy last 4 years moving from Ohio, to Colorado, then to Texas, and Arkansas after that and finally we have moved back to Ohio. Let me just say, I never want to move again! lol It was rough on all of us. I'll explain a little.
We moved to Colorado in the Spring of 2012 to be closer to my biological dad. I was newly pregnant with my youngest. Well, things didn't really go as planned with my dad and his family. We loved Colorado though, and might have stayed if it weren't for the new marijuana laws being passes. I have nothing against weed, but you would not believe how many people moved into the state when it passes. That caused a housing shortage and drove up prices. When are lease was up in June of 2013, there was absolutely nothing we could afford. We are talking upwards of 1500 for a two bedroom apartment. And we needed 3 bedrooms, so with nowhere to go, My husband (who also grew up away from his biological dad) got a hold of him in Texas and told him the situation. His dad, Tracy, offered us a place to stay in his trailer park rent free until we were back on our feet. So on to Texas we went.
I HATED TEXAS. lol I know hate is a strong word, but that place is not for me. It was waaay to hot and humid. And to be honest, I really wanted to go home and be with my mom. And not that there is anything wrong with living in a trailer, I did want us to have our own house. We had only been in Texas for about a month and we were starting to make plans to move back to Ohio when Chris was offered a management position with his work...in Arkansas.
Arkansas was never a place I ever even thought about living, but since it wasn't Texas and his work offered to pay for the entire move, and it was more money for our family, Chris said yes and we packed up and moved again within a month.
We moved to Little Rock and for the first month, Chris's employer put us up in a tiny hotel room. It was a bare necessities hotel with no pool or amenities other than free wifi. That was one of the hardest months of my life as a mom. With the three little ones, at that time ages 4, 3, and 10 months old, it was very difficult to keep everyone happy. The hotel even had to move us to a different room because my little Zander was a screamer and was bothering other hotel guests. We were put in a room right next to the hotels laundry facilities and had no other neighbors.
We did end up finding a nice little house in a rural part of Little Rock. We all loved it there. The weather was fantastic almost all year long, and we had a lot of land to play on, a creek right next to our house and 50 acre horse farm across the street. It was beautiful. I actually miss it a lot.
By spring of 2015, Chris and I were getting homesick and he was getting really burnt out from the stress of his job. There was so much pressure on him and he was so stressed out that he actually ended up getting 2 lazy eyes. I didn't know stress could cause that, but that's what the doc said. So, he stepped down and we took a loan out on our 401k and packed up and moved again, but this time, it was back home to Ohio.
My parents being as great as they are, found us a cute little house about 15 minutes from theirs and paid our first months rent for us. I'm very grateful to them for that. It helped us to get on our feet again. It's been pretty great being back. I missed my family so much. And now we have all the support we could need with my parents, my brother and sister and Chris's mom and aunt and uncle here.
It's been a year since we moved back home. We are growing out of our little house, but we will get a bigger one when the time is right. The biggest lesson we learned through all of this was that the grass always seems greener on the other side. And for us, it really did, but when we got there, we realized it was all crab grass and weeds and that the grass was really greenest with loving and supporting family near by. I don't think I'll ever take my family for granted again. I'm glad to be back!
